The Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation’s Headquarters Groundbreaking Ceremony

Dear Friend,

Your support impacts every aspect of the Foundation’s goal by meeting its fundamental needs while decreasing the number of possible victims through awareness efforts and prevention activities. With your help and from others, we have been able to launch major offenses against this dreadful disease through health fairs, advocacy, education, collaboration, distribution of cancer materials, and by providing direct financial assistance to underserved cancer patients.

We want to do more.

In 2015, the Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation (FLHCF) launched its national fundraising campaign to raise $5 million dollars to be used solely to pay for the construction costs for the 10,000 square foot headquarters, to be known as the Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation Center.  The FLHCF Center will be built in the late civil right leader, Fannie Lou Hamer’s hometown in Ruleville, Mississippi, at the intersection of Highway 8 and Floyce Street on 5½ acres of land purchased and owned by the FLHCF.   The Center will serve as the headquarters for the Mississippi Network for Cancer Control and Prevention program staff, as well as 10 new employees to be hired for jobs created directly as a result of federal, state, and grant funds.

The Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation is working in partnership with faith-based organizations; public and private health providers; educational, social, and welfare agencies; local, state, an national officials; and business interests to address cancer health disparities throughout the rural Mississippi Delta where poverty is overwhelming and individuals are dying prematurely from cancer.

We welcome any suggestions, referrals of potential donors, and donations to this lifesaving and worthwhile initiative.

Thank you in advance for your support!
